How it plays

How does Far East of Eden: Zero play?

The player explores an overhead world map, villages, castles, fields, and dungeons while advancing a linear story. Random encounters begin turn-based battles in which the party can attack, defend, use techniques, cast spells, use items, or attempt to flee.

Experience points raise character levels, while equipment, consumable items, and new abilities improve the party. The adventure also includes scripted events, puzzles, transportation, and changing locations that open as the narrative progresses. There is no multiplayer mode.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Far East of Eden: Zero?

Keep several healing items available before entering unfamiliar dungeons, and upgrade weapons and armor whenever a new settlement offers better equipment. Random battles are frequent, so conserve powerful techniques for bosses rather than spending all resources on ordinary encounters.

Explore towns thoroughly and speak with residents after major story events. Save often, especially before entering dungeons or beginning important scripted sequences. If a boss overwhelms the party, gain a few levels, improve equipment, and adjust the party’s technique and item usage instead of relying on repeated attacks.
