How it plays
How does Tetris play?
Tetrominoes fall into a rectangular well viewed from above. Move pieces horizontally, rotate them, and drop them to form complete rows; completed rows disappear and award points. The game ends when new pieces can no longer enter the playfield.
A-Type continues until a game over, while B-Type begins with a selectable starting height and ends after clearing a target number of lines. Players choose a starting level, and falling speed generally increases as lines are cleared. A two-player mode compares line-clearing performance between two playfields.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play Tetris?
Keep the stack low and leave a clean vertical channel when possible. Avoid creating unnecessary holes, since buried gaps are difficult to repair.
Use long pieces for four-line clears, but do not depend on receiving one. In high-speed play, favor safe single or double clears and place pieces quickly rather than pursuing risky setups.
Before you begin
What should you know before playing?
- 1
Keep the stack as flat as possible.
- 2
Plan the landing position before the piece reaches the bottom.
- 3
Use B-Type to practice clearing uneven starting rows.
