How it plays

How does The Tick play?

The Tick is played from a side-scrolling perspective. The objective is to move through linear stages, defeat enemies, avoid hazards, collect useful items, and reach a boss or stage endpoint.

Players rely on jumping, close-range attacks, careful positioning, and occasional environmental interactions. Progress is structured as a sequence of themed levels rather than an open map, with difficulty increasing through tougher enemies, denser hazards, and boss encounters.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play The Tick?

Learn enemy attack ranges before committing to close combat. Short, controlled attacks followed by repositioning are safer than repeatedly standing in front of larger enemies.

Preserve health for boss encounters, study each boss's movement pattern, and use the full width of the screen when avoiding attacks. Jumping is useful for crossing hazards, but blind jumps can lead directly into enemies or pits.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?
