How it plays
Matches take place on a two-dimensional plane with side-view combat. The objective is to defeat an opponent by reducing their health before the time limit expires; rounds and match settings vary by mode.
Players choose from turtles, allies, and villains, then use directional movement, jumps, normal attacks, throws, blocks, and character-specific special techniques. Single-player progression moves through a sequence of opponents, while versus mode supports two-player competition. Winning fights advances the tournament and eventually leads to the final opponents.
Plan your run
Learn the range and recovery of each normal attack before relying on special moves. Long-reaching attacks are useful for controlling space, while jumps should be used carefully because predictable aerial approaches can be punished.
Against aggressive opponents, block first and counter after a missed heavy attack. Save the strongest techniques for confirmed openings, and pay attention to the time limit when a life advantage makes defensive play worthwhile.

Editorial context
A roster-rich SNES fighter with recognizable TMNT characters and a more substantial presentation than many licensed beat-'em-up spin-offs.
Its early fighting-game balance can feel uneven, but the versus mode and character variety give it lasting appeal.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters is a 1993 one-on-one fighting game developed and published by Konami for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It adapts the comic-book and animated-series cast into a traditional competitive fighter, with each character using a distinct set of punches, kicks, special moves, and attributes. Players can battle through a single-player tournament or fight another player in versus play. The SNES version was generally regarded as the strongest of the three Tournament Fighters releases because of its larger roster and more developed presentation, although its balance and controls remain characteristic of early-1990s console fighters.
