How it plays
The game is viewed from a third-person perspective behind Lara. Each level combines exploration, traversal, puzzle solving, item collection, and combat against human and animal enemies.
Players search for switches, keys, artifacts, and routes while navigating ledges, slopes, water, traps, and timed hazards. Levels are completed by reaching the exit, with secrets and optional pickups rewarding thorough exploration. Lara gains access to stronger weapons during the campaign, but health and ammunition management remain important.
Plan your run
Explore slowly and identify routes before committing to a jump. Save often before traps, timed sequences, and major fights.
Conserve ammunition by using pistols against weaker enemies and stronger weapons only when necessary. Search side rooms and ledges for flares, ammunition, medipacks, and secrets, but do not spend health recklessly reaching optional items.

Tomb Raider II is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive for PlayStation. It follows Lara Croft as she searches for the Dagger of Xian, an ancient artifact believed to grant the power of a dragon. Exploration, environmental puzzles, platforming, swimming, and armed combat form the central play style. The campaign travels through locations including Venice, Tibet, coastal regions, and China, giving the sequel a broader setting than its predecessor. It was commercially successful and generally well received for expanding Lara’s movement options, environments, and weapon selection, although some critics found its difficulty and combat uneven.
