How it plays
The game uses a third-person perspective behind the skater. Each location contains goals such as reaching target scores, collecting letters, finding hidden objects, and completing level-specific challenges.
Players combine ollies, grabs, flips, grinds, manuals, and special tricks. Linking moves increases the score multiplier, while landing safely preserves the combo. Career progression unlocks further objectives and locations as goals are completed.
Plan your run
Learn each park's lines before attempting difficult goals. Use ramps and quarter pipes to gain height, then connect grabs or flips into grinds and manuals.
For high scores, land a trick, hold a manual, and chain additional tricks or grinds before ending the combo. Upgrade stats that match your preferred approach, especially ollie, air, speed, and balance.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is a skateboarding sports game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for Nintendo 64. Players choose a professional skater and ride through compact, obstacle-filled courses while completing goals, collecting items, and building high-scoring trick combinations. The game combines arcade-style handling with manual balance, grinds, grabs, flips, and environment-based movement. Its Career mode gives each skater objectives to complete across several locations, while single-session and multiplayer options support shorter play. The game was widely praised for its responsive controls, level design, soundtrack, and accessible trick system, and it established the foundation for one of the most influential skateboarding series of the era.
