How it plays
Buzz explores compact 3D stages based on locations from Toy Story 2, including Andy's house, Al's Toy Barn, and other film-inspired areas. Each level contains objectives, enemies, collectibles, and a token earned by completing a character's challenge.
The player jumps, attacks with Buzz's laser, uses special abilities, talks to familiar toys, and searches for hidden routes. Pizza Planet tokens unlock additional stages or challenges, while power-ups and upgrades expand Buzz's movement and combat options.
Plan your run
Search each area before leaving rather than following only the obvious route. Hidden ledges, side rooms, and elevated platforms often contain tokens or useful collectibles.
Use the laser to deal with enemies from a safe distance, and learn the timing of Buzz's jump and double-jump-style movement where available. Return to earlier areas after gaining new abilities, since some objectives and collectibles require routes that were initially inaccessible.
Prioritize character challenges and Pizza Planet tokens. They provide the clearest path through the game's progression and help reveal optional content.

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! is a 3D platformer developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Activision for the Nintendo 64. It follows Buzz Lightyear as he searches for Woody after the toy cowboy is taken from Andy's room. The game combines exploration, jumping challenges, combat, collectibles, and light puzzle solving across themed environments inspired by the film. Players control Buzz from a third-person perspective and complete missions for other toys while gathering Pizza Planet tokens and other items. It was generally well received for its lively presentation, faithful Toy Story atmosphere, and accessible platforming, although some critics found its camera and occasional precision challenges uneven.
