How it plays

How does Waterworld play?

The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. The Mariner moves through linear stages, crosses platforms and structures, avoids environmental hazards, and fights enemies associated with the Smokers.

Progress depends on reaching the end of each area while surviving combat and platforming sections. The experience is primarily a single-player campaign rather than a collection of separate competitive modes.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Waterworld?

Learn the timing of jumps before moving quickly through a stage. Use safe ground to deal with enemies instead of attacking while standing near a drop.

Watch the edges of platforms and conserve health when possible. Progress carefully through unfamiliar sections, since hazards and enemies can be difficult to see against the dark Virtual Boy display.
