How it plays

How does WinBack: Covert Operations play?

The game uses a third-person perspective behind Jean-Luc Cougar. Each mission sets objectives such as infiltrating a facility, rescuing personnel, reaching a control room, or neutralizing hostile forces.

Players move through security corridors and rooms, engage enemies with firearms, use cover to reduce exposure, and search for routes through locked or guarded areas. Progression is mission-based rather than experience-based: completing objectives advances the story and opens later operations. The Nintendo 64 release includes a main campaign and multiplayer modes, with competitive play built around combat in enclosed arenas.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play WinBack: Covert Operations?

Use cover before exchanging fire, and expose only enough of Jean-Luc's body to aim at enemies. Rushing into open rooms usually attracts several attackers at once.

Conserve ammunition, check side passages for safer angles, and clear enemies near doors before moving through them. Learn enemy positions after a failed attempt rather than repeating the same approach.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Use corners and walls to limit the number of enemies who can attack at once.

  2. 2

Advance carefully after each firefight; enemies and objectives are often positioned beyond the next doorway.

  3. 3

In multiplayer, control of cover and sight lines is usually more important than moving quickly.
