How it plays

How does Worms play?

Worms uses a side-view perspective over two-dimensional, destructible landscapes. Players take turns moving a selected worm, choosing a weapon, aiming, and firing. Explosions deform the terrain, damage nearby worms, and can knock them into water or off the battlefield.

The objective is to destroy every worm on the opposing teams. A battle can include multiple teams and computer-controlled or human players. Progression is based on winning individual matches rather than a conventional story campaign; later battles can become harder through more dangerous terrain, stronger opposition, and limited access to powerful weapons.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Worms?

Use the terrain as cover, but remember that every explosion can remove your own protection. Before firing, check the projectile's arc, wind direction, nearby hazards, and the safest position for the attacking worm.

Conserve powerful weapons for clustered enemies or difficult defensive positions. Move worms away from exposed ledges, avoid ending a turn beside explosive objects, and use teleportation or other mobility tools when a direct attack would leave a worm vulnerable.
