How it plays
Matches are viewed from a side-on perspective in a single arena. The objective is to defeat the opposing wrestler by reducing their energy and finishing the match with a pin or another decisive attack.
Players move, strike, grapple, block, and use character-specific special moves. Matches emphasize timing and rapid attacks instead of realistic wrestling rules. The single-player game progresses through a sequence of opponents, while multiplayer allows two players to fight each other. Wrestlers differ in speed, strength, attack reach, and special-move behavior.
Plan your run
Learn the timing of each wrestler’s normal attacks before relying on special moves. Fast characters can pressure opponents with repeated strikes, while heavier characters benefit from creating space and using strong grapples.
Block when the opponent begins a long attack animation, then counter during recovery. Save special attacks for a clear opening, because wasting them can leave the wrestler vulnerable. In multiplayer, vary attack timing rather than repeating the same move, since predictable patterns are easy to defend.

WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game is a fighting and sports game developed by Midway and published by Acclaim Entertainment for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. It presents professional wrestling as a fast, exaggerated arcade brawler rather than a simulation. Players choose WWF performers and battle through short matches filled with powerful strikes, throws, signature attacks, and theatrical animations. The game was notable for its digitized wrestler imagery, comic-book presentation, and close connection to Midway’s NBA Jam-style design philosophy. The SNES version offers a more limited presentation than the arcade original, but it retains the accessible controls and chaotic match flow. Reception was generally mixed to positive, with its spectacle and humor praised more consistently than its simplified wrestling mechanics.
