How it plays

How does Yoshi's Cookie play?

The game is viewed from a fixed, overhead perspective. Cookies fill a rectangular grid, and the objective is to remove them by completing rows or columns containing the same cookie type.

The player shifts rows and columns to create matches. In single-player play, new cookies enter as matches are cleared, and the board must be managed before it becomes full. Modes and difficulty settings change the starting arrangement, speed, and pressure. Competitive play challenges another player or the computer to clear cookies more efficiently.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Yoshi's Cookie?

Look for simultaneous horizontal and vertical matches before moving a row or column. A single shift can create multiple clears, reduce clutter, and prepare the next move.

Avoid making isolated matches that leave awkward gaps. In faster stages, prioritize keeping the board open and plan several moves ahead rather than reacting only to the current match.
