How it plays

How does Zombies Ate My Neighbors play?

The game uses a top-down perspective. Each stage is a maze-like area containing endangered neighbors, monsters, weapons, items, and an exit. The main objective is to rescue as many civilians as possible and reach the exit before the stage becomes impossible to complete.

Zeke and Julie can fire weapons, use special items, switch equipment, and consult the map. Weapons have different ranges and effects, while items provide healing, protection, mobility, or other advantages. Stages become more complex and introduce new enemies, hazards, and rescue targets. A password system records progress between sessions.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Zombies Ate My Neighbors?

Explore methodically before triggering dangerous events, and use the map to track unexplored rooms and exits. Rescue civilians as soon as the route is safe, but avoid rushing into areas where enemies can surround them.

Conserve powerful weapons for bosses and dense groups. Keep a varied inventory, learn which items provide emergency protection, and search furniture and side rooms for supplies. In two-player mode, divide exploration duties while keeping both characters close enough to support one another.
