How it plays
How does 1941: Counter Attack play?
The player views the action from above and flies upward through continuously scrolling stages. The objective is to destroy enemy aircraft, ground installations, ships, and bosses while avoiding bullets and collisions.
The two selectable fighters offer different speed and firepower profiles. Power-ups improve the main weapon, bombs clear threats, and temporary options add fire support. Stages end with large mechanical or aircraft bosses, and progress depends on surviving each encounter with limited lives and continues.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play 1941: Counter Attack?
Stay near the lower portion of the screen when learning a stage, but keep enough horizontal space to dodge incoming patterns. Prioritize enemies that fire aimed shots and collect weapon power-ups safely rather than chasing every item.
Save bombs for dense bullet patterns, difficult boss phases, or situations where movement is restricted. Learn the timing of stage transitions and boss attacks; memorization is especially valuable because enemy waves and hazards arrive in fixed patterns.
Before you begin
What should you know before playing?
- 1
Use short horizontal movements instead of large swings when bullets approach.
- 2
Do not spend every bomb immediately; later boss phases can be more dangerous.
- 3
Choose the faster fighter if you need easier repositioning, and the stronger fighter if you can manage its handling.
