How it plays
The game uses a top-down vertical perspective. Players destroy enemy aircraft, ground targets, installations, and bosses while moving through a fixed sequence of scrolling stages.
Weapon icons improve the main shot, while bombs damage enemies and provide emergency protection. Each aircraft has distinct firing characteristics, and the campaign ends after the final boss. One- and two-player modes are available.
Plan your run
Stay near the lower portion of the screen so incoming threats have less time to reach you, but move early when enemies enter from the sides.

Aero Fighters 2, known in Japan as Sonic Wings 2, is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up developed and published by Video System for arcade systems in 1994. Players select an aircraft and pilot, then fight through a globe-spanning invasion using rapid-fire weapons, screen-clearing bombs, and temporary power-ups. The game supports one or two players and presents a compact sequence of highly varied stages with branching route elements and large bosses. It was received as a polished, approachable arcade shooter, praised for its responsive controls, colorful presentation, and cooperative play, while retaining the demanding enemy patterns expected from the genre.
