How it plays

How does Asterix play?

The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. Players move through linear stages, defeat Roman soldiers and animals, collect food or items when available, and reach a stage boss or final encounter.

Asterix and Obelix can be selected for one- or two-player play. Combat is built around moving, jumping, attacking, and using objects in the environment. Progression follows a fixed sequence of stages, with lives and continues determined by the arcade machine's settings.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Asterix?

Stay near the center of the screen so approaching enemies can be seen before they surround you. Attack Roman soldiers as they enter range, then jump over groups when a direct fight is unfavorable.

In two-player games, divide attention between both sides of the screen and avoid striking blindly when enemies are knocked down. Conserve lives for later stages, where enemy groups and boss patterns become less forgiving.
