How it plays
The match is viewed from a fixed side-on perspective. Players move around their half of the court, intercept the ball, and return it toward the opponent by timing attacks and positioning near the ball’s path.
The objective is to score by getting the ball past the opposing player or otherwise exploiting an opening. Rallies depend on rebounds from the arena, defensive blocks, and changing angles. The arcade structure centers on versus matches and progression through successive opponents, with victories leading to more challenging encounters.
Plan your run
Stay near the center of your defensive area until the ball’s direction is clear, then move decisively rather than chasing every rebound. Watching the angle of the return is often more useful than standing directly beneath the ball.
Use the arena walls and rebounds to create difficult trajectories. Mix direct shots with angled returns, and avoid committing too early to one side because a late correction can be impossible after a rebound.

Battle Flip Shot is a 1998 arcade sports-action game developed by Visco Corporation and published by SNK. It presents a competitive court game in which opposing players use ricocheting shots and defensive positioning to send a ball into the rival side of the arena. Matches are designed for quick two-player competition, with simple controls but a strong emphasis on timing, rebounds, and reading the opponent. The game belongs to the late Neo Geo arcade tradition of compact versus titles, using colorful character designs and exaggerated athletic moves rather than realistic sports simulation. Its arcade release gave it a niche following, especially among players interested in unusual competitive games. Battle Flip Shot is also commonly discussed alongside Visco’s later Bang Bead, although it is best cataloged here as its own title.
