How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective and presents a sequence of horizontally scrolling stages. The warrior must reach each stage's exit while defeating enemies, avoiding hazards, opening treasure containers, and rescuing or encountering helpful non-player characters.
A sword is the primary weapon, while shields, armor, boots, and projectile weapons improve survival and combat options. Coins act as the main currency for purchases. Progress is checkpoint-based within stages, but lives and time remain limited, making careful exploration and resource management important.
Plan your run
Learn enemy attack patterns before advancing, especially in narrow passages where jumping can create unnecessary danger. Keep moving, but pause to collect visible coins and inspect suspicious areas for treasure.
Spend coins on defensive equipment and useful weapons rather than wasting them on repeated risky encounters. Preserve ranged attacks for flying enemies, crowded platforms, and bosses, and use checkpoints to practice difficult sections.

Black Tiger is a side-scrolling action platform game developed and published by Capcom for arcades in 1987. The player controls a heavily armored warrior who fights through monster-infested stages to restore peace to a kingdom threatened by dragons and other supernatural enemies. Its play style combines platforming, melee combat, ranged weapons, and exploration. Players collect coins from defeated foes and hidden locations, then spend them on equipment and upgrades. The game was well received for its responsive combat, varied stages, detailed presentation, and demanding but rewarding difficulty, and it became a notable early Capcom arcade action title.
