Warrior
A heavily armed fighter focused on strong close-range attacks and durability.
How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective. The selected hero advances through horizontally scrolling fantasy stages, defeats monsters, avoids hazards, collects items, and searches for the exit. Platforms, ladders, pits, locked passages, and hidden areas make movement as important as direct combat.
Each character has a distinct fighting style and can use weapons or magic. Players progress through multiple stages with checkpoints and battles against stronger enemies and bosses. Route choices and the selection of a hero affect how the adventure is played.
Plan your run
Learn enemy attack patterns before rushing forward. Keep enough room to retreat, especially when several enemies approach from both sides, and inspect platforms and side paths for useful items.
Choose a character that matches the stage. The Warrior is forgiving in direct fights, the Valkyrie offers a balanced option, and the Wizard is most effective when magic is used carefully rather than spent immediately.

Blades of Vengeance is a side-scrolling action game developed by Beam Software and published by Electronic Arts for the Sega Genesis in 1993. It follows three heroes who travel through a ruined fantasy kingdom after an evil ruler devastates the land. Players choose among a Warrior, Valkyrie, or Wizard, each with different combat strengths and magical abilities. The game combines platforming, melee combat, exploration, and light character progression across a sequence of dangerous stages. Its branching routes and three playable characters gave it more replay value than many licensed action games of the period. Contemporary reception was generally favorable, with critics noting its varied combat and atmosphere while sometimes criticizing its difficulty.
