How it plays

How does Bubble Bobble play?

Each stage is viewed from the side on a single fixed screen. Bub or Bob moves across platforms, blows bubbles to trap enemies, then jumps into the bubbles to burst them and score points.

Players progress through increasingly demanding rounds while collecting fruit, sweets, and power-ups. Two-player cooperative play allows both dragons to clear screens together, although careless play can still leave enemies dangerous. The game includes special item patterns, hidden rooms, and multiple endings tied to completion conditions.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Bubble Bobble?

Trap enemies from a safe position rather than approaching them directly. Bursting several bubbles in succession can clear a crowded platform and produce valuable score items.

Learn each screen's platforms and air currents, prioritize enemies that can reach your position, and save useful power-ups for difficult layouts. In two-player games, avoid bursting the same bubble simultaneously unless both players have a safe landing route.
