How it plays
Each stage is viewed from the side on a single fixed screen. Bub or Bob moves across platforms, blows bubbles to trap enemies, then jumps into the bubbles to burst them and score points.
Players progress through increasingly demanding rounds while collecting fruit, sweets, and power-ups. Two-player cooperative play allows both dragons to clear screens together, although careless play can still leave enemies dangerous. The game includes special item patterns, hidden rooms, and multiple endings tied to completion conditions.
Plan your run
Trap enemies from a safe position rather than approaching them directly. Bursting several bubbles in succession can clear a crowded platform and produce valuable score items.
Learn each screen's platforms and air currents, prioritize enemies that can reach your position, and save useful power-ups for difficult layouts. In two-player games, avoid bursting the same bubble simultaneously unless both players have a safe landing route.

Bubble Bobble is a 1986 arcade platform game developed and published by Taito. Players control the dragon brothers Bub and Bob, who must rescue their girlfriends after being transformed by the villain Super Drunk. Each stage is a single-screen maze filled with enemies, platforms, bubbles, and collectible items. The central play style combines precise jumping with trapping and bursting enemies. Its colorful presentation, cooperative two-player design, memorable music, and large number of stages made it a major arcade success and an enduring genre classic.
