How it plays

How does Bust-A-Move '99 play?

The player views the puzzle field from the front and controls a bubble launcher at the bottom of the screen. Aim the launcher, fire a bubble, and connect it with two or more bubbles of the same color to make the group disappear.

Solo stages use fixed arrangements and pressure the player to clear bubbles efficiently before the field reaches the danger line. In versus play, matches can send nuisance bubbles to the opponent, making chain reactions and quick clears especially important. Progress depends on planning angles, using walls for bank shots, and managing the limited color options presented by the launcher.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Bust-A-Move '99?

Look for shots that create a three-bubble match while also setting up the next move. Bank shots off the side walls to reach bubbles that are not directly accessible.

Prioritize removing supporting bubbles: a single well-placed shot can drop a large connected section. In versus matches, build chains and clear quickly rather than making isolated matches, since efficient clears create more pressure for the opponent.
