How it plays

How does Castlevania: Bloodlines play?

The game uses a side-view perspective. The objective is to guide one of two characters through six linear stages, defeat regular enemies and bosses, and stop Elizabeth Bartley’s resurrection plan.

John Morris uses a whip, while Eric Lecarde uses a spear with different reach and movement options. Players walk, crouch, jump, attack, collect power-ups, and use limited special attacks. Weapon upgrades improve the main attack, and health, sub-weapons, and stage hazards make careful movement important.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Castlevania: Bloodlines?

Learn enemy patterns before advancing, especially in stages with moving platforms and instant-death hazards.

  • Keep weapon power-ups whenever possible; losing them makes boss fights much harder.
  • Use sub-weapons and special attacks selectively rather than spending them on ordinary enemies.
  • Eric’s movement options and John’s whip angles suit different sections, so choose the character whose strengths match your preferred style.
