How it plays
Cyber-Lip uses a horizontal side-scrolling perspective. The objective is to advance through each stage, defeat waves of mechanical enemies, avoid hazards, and destroy a large boss at the end of the area.
Players move, jump, and fire in several directions while collecting weapon upgrades. Stages are linear but include platforms, elevators, hazards, and occasional changes in height. The game is built around limited continues and repeated attempts rather than a persistent character-progression system.
Plan your run
Conserve powerful weapon pickups for dense enemy formations and bosses rather than spending them immediately. Keep moving while firing, since stationary players are easy targets for projectiles and approaching machines.
Learn the timing of each boss pattern before committing to an attack. In two-player games, spread out when possible so both players do not lose a life to the same hazard, but stay close enough to maintain pressure on bosses.
Meet the cast
One of the two soldiers sent to stop Cyber-Lip; available as a player character.
The second playable soldier who joins Rick in the assault on Cyber-Lip.
Before you begin
Use jumps to avoid hazards instead of trying to destroy every enemy.
Prioritize enemies that fire projectiles or approach from behind.
Treat weapon pickups as temporary advantages and keep a fallback firing rhythm.
Cyber-Lip is a side-scrolling run-and-gun action game developed and published by SNK for arcade systems in 1990. Players control soldiers Rick or Brook as they fight through a future Earth threatened by the rogue supercomputer Cyber-Lip and its machines. The game combines constant shooting, platforming, jumping, and boss battles across compact stages. It supports one or two players, with simultaneous cooperative play in the arcade version. Cyber-Lip was received as a solid early SNK action title, especially for its fast pace and two-player combat, although its short length and demanding difficulty can make the experience feel abrupt by modern standards.
