How it plays

How does Darius play?

The Silver Hawk moves through horizontally scrolling stages filled with airborne, ground, and aquatic enemies. Players fire forward, launch bombs at ground targets, and collect power-ups that improve weapons, missiles, or the defensive shield.

Each stage ends with a large mechanical boss inspired by sea life. After defeating a boss, the player chooses one of two routes, creating a branching campaign with different enemy patterns and encounters. The game supports one or two players, with lives and continues governed by the arcade machine's settings.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Darius?

Collect power-ups consistently rather than taking unnecessary risks for distant items. Prioritize the shield and learn the position of dangerous enemies before trying to maximize weapon levels.

Study the route map and choose branches that match your strengths. Against bosses, stay aware of the screen edges, watch attack timing, and preserve bombs for patterns that are difficult to evade.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Power-up capsules are color-coded by weapon category; collect them deliberately instead of firing through every capsule.

  2. 2

Use the route branches to practice difficult stages in a different order.

  3. 3

The wide cabinet display gives extra horizontal space, but enemies can still approach from the rear or below.
