How it plays
Matches take place from a side-on perspective with two fighters sharing a single arena. The objective is to reduce the opponent's life bar before the round timer expires, usually by winning the required number of rounds.
Players can move, jump, guard, use normal attacks, perform character-specific special moves, and exploit stage positioning. Single-player progression consists of successive fights, while versus play supports two participants. Each character has different strengths, attack ranges, and special techniques.
Plan your run
Learn the reach and recovery of the selected fighter before relying on special moves. Stay near the center when possible so an opponent cannot easily trap you against the edge.
Block patiently, punish missed attacks, and use jumping attacks sparingly. In single-player matches, observe each opponent's repeated approach pattern and save powerful attacks for clear openings.

Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls is a one-on-one fighting game developed by Leland Interactive Media and published by Tradewest for the Sega Genesis in 1994. It adapts characters and themes from the Double Dragon animated series rather than following the traditional side-scrolling beat 'em up format. Players choose fighters with distinct attacks, special moves, and attributes, then battle through competitive matches or a character-focused single-player campaign. The game received mixed historical reception: its colorful presentation and roster were recognized, while critics often considered its fighting mechanics less refined than leading contemporary console fighters.
