Son Goku
A powerful Saiyan fighter who relies on balanced attacks and energy techniques.
How it plays
Matches are viewed from a side-on perspective. Fighters can walk, jump, fly, guard, use physical attacks, and launch character-specific energy techniques. When opponents move far apart, the screen divides horizontally so both fighters remain visible.
The main progression is a sequence of battles in the story mode. Versus play supports direct matches, while selectable fighters provide different speed, power, reach, and special-move properties. Winning depends on managing health, energy, distance, and recovery opportunities.
Plan your run
Stay near the distance at which your fighter’s strongest attacks are reliable, and avoid spending all available energy at once. Use jumps and flight to change position, but remember that predictable movement can be punished.
Watch the opponent’s recovery after missed special moves. Guarding, retreating, and choosing a safe counterattack are often more effective than attacking continuously. Learn the timing of each fighter’s signature technique before relying on it.

Dragon Ball Z: Super Butoden 3 is a 1994 Super Nintendo fighting game developed by TOSE and published by Bandai. It adapts the Majin Buu era of Dragon Ball Z into one-on-one battles featuring energy attacks, aerial movement, defensive techniques, and dramatic long-range exchanges. The game offers a story-oriented mode alongside versus play, with a roster drawn from the series’ later characters and transformations. It was released for the Super Famicom in Japan and became known for its fast matches, large battle arenas, and distinctive split-screen presentation during distant combat. Reception was generally positive among Dragon Ball fans, although critics noted that its relatively small roster and limited story content made it less substantial than some competitors.
