How it plays
Dragon Blaze is viewed from above in a vertically scrolling battlefield. The player selects one of four dragon riders, then advances through a sequence of stages filled with enemies, obstacles, mid-stage threats, and bosses.
The rider fires continuously while moving in eight directions. Holding the shot button charges a dragon attack; releasing it sends the dragon forward to inflict concentrated damage while the rider remains active. Bombs provide emergency protection and heavy damage. Progress depends on learning enemy formations, managing the dragon attack, collecting power-ups, and preserving lives for the increasingly difficult later stages.
Plan your run
Stay near the lower portion of the screen, but keep enough horizontal space to react to incoming patterns. Use the dragon attack against dense formations and bosses rather than spending it only on isolated enemies.
Learn each stage's enemy entrances and save bombs for unavoidable hazards or dangerous boss patterns. Power up safely, avoid greedy item collection, and practice one character at a time so that its movement and attack behavior become familiar.

Dragon Blaze is a vertical-scrolling shoot 'em up developed and published by Psikyo for arcade systems in 2000. It presents a fantasy battle in which dragon riders fight through hostile formations, fortified locations, and large bosses. The game combines rapid shooting with a distinctive dragon-based attack system that rewards carefully timed positioning and aggression. Its compact stages, intense bullet patterns, character variety, and demanding boss encounters reflect Psikyo's arcade design style. Dragon Blaze was well regarded by shoot 'em up players for its polished presentation, responsive controls, and unusual separation between rider and dragon attacks. It is designed for repeated play, with survival, scoring, and mastery of each character's weapon properties serving as its main long-term goals.
