How it plays
Matches are viewed from an angled, isometric camera that follows play across the pitch. The objective is to score more goals than the opposing team before full time, while defending through positioning, challenges, and goalkeeper control.
Players move, pass, shoot, tackle, and change the controlled footballer as possession changes. Competition is organized through individual matches and tournament structures, with success determined by results rather than long-term player development. The game emphasizes timing and space: accurate passing creates openings, while hurried attacks are easily intercepted.
Plan your run
Use short passes to move the defense before attempting a through ball or shot. Approach the ball carrier from an angle instead of repeatedly tackling from behind.
Keep defenders between the attacker and the goal, and avoid pulling the goalkeeper too far from the penalty area. On offense, use the wings to stretch the defense before crossing or passing back toward the center.
Before you begin
Use patient passing to create clear shooting lanes.
Defend with positioning first; tackles are easier when the opponent has limited space.
FIFA International Soccer is a 1993 association-football game developed by Extended Play Productions and published by Electronic Arts. It presents eleven-a-side matches from a distinctive isometric perspective, with passing, shooting, tackling, goalkeeping, and player positioning forming the core of play. The game focuses on standalone matches and tournament-style competition rather than a large management mode. Its presentation, sampled commentary, and angled camera helped distinguish it from earlier console football games. Reception was generally positive, particularly for its television-like viewpoint and accessible controls, although the pace and player handling can feel less direct than later FIFA entries.
