Asterix and the Great Rescue
Sega GenesisPlatformer
How it plays
Matches are viewed from a scrolling overhead perspective. The objective is to outscore the opposing team by moving the ball through passing, dribbling, crosses, and shots while defending space and challenging for possession.
Players can take part in individual matches and longer competition structures. Success depends on selecting suitable passes, timing challenges, exploiting open areas, and managing the score as the match progresses.
Plan your run
Use short passes to retain possession rather than repeatedly attempting long balls. Move the ball toward the wings when the center is crowded, then look for a cross or a cutback.
Defensively, contain the ball carrier and avoid pulling the last defender out of position. Shoot when a clear lane opens instead of relying on speculative attempts from distance.
Before you begin
Learn the pace of passing and shooting before attempting advanced attacks.
Protect a lead by keeping possession and avoiding unnecessary forward runs.
FIFA Soccer 97 is an association football simulation developed by Extended Play Productions and published by EA Sports for the Sega Genesis. It presents club and international football through an overhead, broadcast-style perspective, with an emphasis on passing, shooting, tackling, and match management. The game includes league and tournament-oriented play rather than an arcade-only format, giving players a structured season experience. Its Genesis version was received as a capable continuation of EA's established football series, although its presentation and feature set were necessarily limited compared with newer 32-bit editions.
