How it plays
Matches are viewed from a side-on 2D perspective. Players select a fighter and battle an opponent, attempting to reduce the opponent’s life before their own reaches zero.
The portable format emphasizes short arcade-style encounters. Players use directional inputs and attack buttons for normal attacks, defensive movement, jumps, and character-specific techniques. Progression is based on clearing successive fights rather than on a large exploration map.
Plan your run
Learn the reach and recovery of the chosen fighter’s basic attacks before relying on special techniques. In handheld matches, controlling space and avoiding unnecessary jumps are especially important because the screen gives limited room for reaction.
Use short, repeatable attack sequences and protect the lead rather than chasing risky hits. Against difficult opponents, blocking and waiting for a clear opening is generally safer than attacking continuously.

Guilty Gear Petit 2 is a compact 2D fighting game developed by Arc System Works for Bandai’s WonderSwan handheld and published by Sammy Corporation. It adapts the Guilty Gear concept to a portable format, using simplified presentation and controls while retaining character-based combat, special techniques, and competitive matches. The game is a spin-off rather than a direct replacement for the main console entries. Its small screen and monochrome-oriented handheld hardware shape the experience, but the focus remains on one-on-one battles. Reception has generally centered on its novelty as a portable Guilty Gear title and its limitations compared with larger versions.
