Dr. Alan Grant
A paleontologist who returns to Isla Nublar and serves as the primary human protagonist.
How it plays
The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. As Dr. Grant, the objective is to cross dinosaur-infested areas, gather equipment, defeat enemies, and reach the end of each stage. The player can run, jump, climb, fire weapons, and interact with the environment.
A separate velociraptor mode emphasizes close-range attacks and agile movement. Levels progress through different island environments and culminate in dangerous encounters. Weapon pickups and ammunition management are important for Grant, while the raptor relies more directly on speed, positioning, and melee attacks.
Plan your run
Conserve ammunition for large dinosaurs and crowded encounters, and learn enemy approach patterns before committing to a jump or attack. Exploring side paths can reveal useful weapons, ammunition, and other supplies.
Use Grant's ranged attacks to control space, but avoid firing wastefully at enemies that can be bypassed. When playing as the velociraptor, keep moving and attack from a favorable position rather than absorbing repeated hits.

Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition is a 1994 action platformer developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega for the Genesis. It presents a new crisis on Isla Nublar after the events of the earlier Jurassic Park game, with escaped dinosaurs and a spreading biological threat creating the central premise. Players guide Dr. Alan Grant through side-scrolling stages filled with hostile creatures, traps, weapons, and environmental hazards. A playable velociraptor route adds a different movement and combat style. The game was generally recognized for its energetic action, varied level design, and improved presentation, although its difficulty and occasionally unforgiving encounters received mixed reactions.
