How it plays

How does King of the Monsters play?

Players choose one of six giant monsters and fight through a sequence of city-based matches. The viewpoint is a side-on arena perspective, with the camera following the combatants across a broad battlefield.

The objective is to reduce the opponent's life bar before time expires. Players can move, jump, punch, kick, grab enemies, throw them, and interact with or throw nearby objects. Winning matches advances the monster toward the final championship battle; a two-player mode allows cooperative or competitive arcade play depending on the match setup.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play King of the Monsters?

Control the center of the arena and avoid being trapped against the edge. Short attacks are safer than repeatedly committing to long animations.

  • Grab opponents after they whiff an attack, then throw them toward hazards or away from the center.
  • Use debris and other objects when they are available, but do not sacrifice positioning to pick them up.
  • Watch the timer and life bars; when ahead, prioritize safe hits and movement rather than unnecessary trades.
