How it plays

How does Knights of the Round play?

The game uses a side-scrolling perspective. Players advance through linear stages, defeat groups of enemies, collect food and treasure, and face a boss at the end of each major area.

Arthur, Lancelot, and Perceval have different strengths. Basic attacks can be combined into short attack strings, while jumping attacks, defensive maneuvers, and weapon upgrades add variety. Up to three players can cooperate on compatible arcade cabinets, and surviving characters gain experience and improve their equipment as the game progresses.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Knights of the Round?

Stay close enough to control enemy spacing, but avoid being surrounded. Short attack strings are safer than repeatedly mashing into large groups.

Prioritize food when health is low and learn each boss's telegraphed attack pattern. In multiplayer, separate enemies between players rather than striking the same target without coordination.

  • Use jumping attacks to approach dangerous groups.
  • Preserve continues for later stages and bosses.
  • Choose a character whose speed and power match your preferred play style.

Meet the cast

Who are the key characters?

1

Arthur

A balanced knight with a sword, offering an even mix of attack power, speed, and reach.

2

A fast knight who uses a saber and excels at mobility, with lower power than Arthur.

3

Perceval

A powerful knight who uses a large axe, dealing heavy damage but moving more slowly.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Food restores health, so avoid collecting it while already near full health when possible.

  2. 2

Use the defensive or parrying technique against predictable attacks instead of trading damage.

  3. 3

Weapon improvements and experience are especially valuable for the slower, stronger Perceval.
