Johnny
Playable character with a balanced bowling style.
How it plays
Players view the lane from behind the bowler and try to knock down all ten pins. A turn normally allows up to two throws, with a strike ending the frame immediately. The objective is to achieve the highest score across the completed frames.
Before releasing the ball, the player adjusts the bowler’s position and the intended direction. Ball selection and timing affect the possible line and pin result. Matches support solo play and multiplayer competition, with the winner determined by the final score.
Plan your run
Aim for the pocket between the head pin and the neighboring pin rather than throwing directly at the center. Small position changes can produce a more reliable strike angle than large adjustments.
Use the first throw to leave a manageable spare when a strike is unlikely. Watch the ball’s path and change the starting position or direction gradually instead of making repeated extreme corrections.

League Bowling is an arcade sports game developed and published by SNK in 1990. It presents ten-pin bowling in a compact format designed for quick matches and multiplayer competition. Players choose a bowler and ball, adjust their position and aim, then attempt to clear the pins with as few throws as possible. The game emphasizes direct control and readable results rather than a long career mode. Its colorful presentation, short rounds, and support for several players made it a popular choice for competitive arcade sessions. It was later associated with SNK’s Neo Geo arcade and home-game lineup.
