Asterix and the Great Rescue
Sega GenesisPlatformer
How it plays
The player flies combat missions from a cockpit view. Objectives vary by operation and can include attacking enemy positions, escorting friendly units, destroying targets, and surviving opposing fire while managing altitude, direction, weapons, and damage.
Before missions, the player selects an aircraft and prepares its weapons. Successful operations advance the campaign and expose more demanding objectives. The game emphasizes careful positioning and target identification; rushing into a battlefield can quickly waste ammunition or leave the helicopter vulnerable.
Plan your run
Learn the cockpit instruments before attempting difficult missions. Keep the helicopter moving, use terrain for protection when possible, and avoid spending powerful weapons on minor targets.
Identify the mission objective first, then approach targets from a controlled angle. Monitor damage and ammunition throughout the operation; survival and completion are more important than indiscriminate attacks.
Before you begin
Use reconnaissance and observation before committing to an attack.
Conserve specialized weapons for targets that resist ordinary fire.
Treat enemy fire as a positioning problem rather than simply holding the attack button.
LHX Attack Chopper is a combat flight simulator developed and published by Electronic Arts for the Sega Genesis and other home-computer platforms. It places the player in command of the experimental LHX helicopter during military operations across hostile terrain. The game combines cockpit-style flight, weapon management, reconnaissance, and tactical mission objectives rather than presenting a purely arcade shooting experience. Missions are played from a first-person cockpit perspective, with several helicopter types and equipment choices affecting the approach to each assignment. Its technical ambition, detailed instrumentation, and serious presentation earned attention among 16-bit flight-simulation fans, although the controls and demanding missions can feel less accessible than contemporary arcade helicopter games.
