How it plays

How does Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes play?

Matches use a side-view 2D fighting perspective. The player chooses a main character and several assist options, then defeats an opponent through normal attacks, special moves, throws, blocking, and Hyper Combos. A round ends when a fighter's health is depleted.

The game uses a one-on-one battle format with assist attacks rather than the later series' full two-character tag system. Players build a super meter by attacking and defending, then spend it on powerful Hyper Combos. Arcade progression leads through a sequence of opponents before the final battle against Onslaught.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes?

Learn the normal attack strengths and special-move inputs for one main fighter before trying to use the entire roster. Keep enough distance to call an assist safely, then convert a successful hit into a special move or Hyper Combo. Blocking and movement are essential because many characters can deal heavy damage after a single opening.

Use assists to cover recovery, interrupt an opponent's approach, or create opportunities for throws and low attacks. Save super meter for confirmed Hyper Combos instead of spending it randomly. Against Onslaught, avoid predictable jumps, punish his recovery, and prioritize survival over extended pressure.
