How it plays
The game uses a two-dimensional side-scrolling perspective. Mega Man begins with eight selectable Robot Master stages, each ending in a boss whose weapon becomes available after victory.
Players run, jump, shoot, slide, climb ladders, and exploit weapon weaknesses while navigating hazards and enemies. Defeated bosses open new abilities, and Rush provides movement and support functions. After the initial stages, the game continues through additional fortress stages with rematches and final confrontations.
Plan your run
Learn the stage and boss weakness order before spending scarce weapon energy. The Shadow Blade is especially useful in several encounters, while Rush Marine and Rush Jet help with difficult traversal sections.
Use the regular Mega Buster when possible, collect large weapon-energy capsules carefully, and practice sliding under projectiles rather than trying to jump over every attack. Search suspicious walls and floors for health, weapon energy, and extra-life pickups.

Mega Man 3 is a science-fiction action platformer developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Players control Mega Man, a robotic hero sent by Dr. Light to stop a new group of Robot Masters and investigate the activities of the mysterious Proto Man. The game combines precise side-scrolling jumps, projectile combat, environmental hazards, and boss battles in a selectable stage structure. It expands the previous games with sliding, the Rush support robot, and larger stages. Mega Man 3 was commercially successful and is often remembered as one of the NES series' strongest entries, although its difficulty and uneven pacing have also received criticism.
