Mega Man
The heroic Blue Bomber and one of the principal playable racers.
How it plays
Races are viewed from behind the player's vehicle. The objective is to finish ahead of opponents while navigating turns, jumps, hazards, and weapon attacks. Racers can fire at competitors and use pickups or equipment to improve their performance.
The main progression comes through a championship-style series of races. Winning events and defeating rivals can provide vehicle parts or abilities, while multiplayer offers direct split-screen competition. Each selectable character has different strengths and equipment options.
Plan your run
Prioritize clean racing lines before attacking. Weapon use is most effective when it interrupts a rival near a corner, jump, or narrow section.
Learn each track's hazards and save useful attacks for the final part of a lap. Choose equipment that compensates for a vehicle's weaknesses rather than improving only its strongest statistic.
Meet the cast
The heroic Blue Bomber and one of the principal playable racers.
Mega Man's independent rival, competing with his own racing machine.
Mega Man's aggressive rival and a playable combat racer.
The alien robot hero from Mega Man 8, appearing as a powerful racer.
Mega Man's recurring enemy, represented in the racing competition.
Before you begin
Brake before tight turns instead of relying entirely on steering.
Use attacks when opponents have limited room to avoid them.
Experiment with vehicle parts to balance speed, handling, and durability.
Mega Man: Battle & Chase is a vehicular combat racing game developed and published by Capcom for the original PlayStation. It places familiar Mega Man characters in armed racing machines rather than traditional platforming stages. Players compete on tracks inspired by the series, attack rivals, collect equipment, and use special abilities to gain an advantage. The game supports single-player championship racing and local two-player competition. Its colorful presentation and character-driven design made it a distinctive Mega Man spin-off, although contemporary reception was mixed because of its simple racing mechanics and limited depth compared with stronger kart-racing games.
