How it plays
The game is viewed from a side-scrolling perspective. Players choose stages from a boss-selection screen, navigate hazards and enemies, and defeat a Robot Master at each stage's end.
Mega Man begins with the Mega Buster and gains a boss weapon after each victory. Weapon weaknesses encourage different stage orders, while limited health and ammunition make careful movement important. After the initial bosses, the game continues through additional fortress stages before the final battle with Dr. Wily.
Plan your run
Study each boss's movement before committing to attacks. Use the weapon gained from one boss against another whenever a weakness is known, but conserve ammunition for difficult encounters.
In stages, prioritize safe positioning over speed. Learn enemy patterns, use small platforms carefully, and enter boss rooms with as much health and weapon energy as possible.
Meet the cast

Before you begin
The Mega Buster can be charged for stronger shots after obtaining the required upgrade.
Practice boss patterns instead of relying only on weapon advantages; several arenas leave little room for mistakes.
Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge is a 1991 Game Boy action platformer developed by Minakuchi Engineering and published by Capcom. It adapts the core run-and-gun structure of the NES Mega Man games to a portable format, with compact stages, robotic bosses, and a final confrontation with Dr. Wily. The game mixes bosses and mechanics inspired by earlier console entries with original content, including the powerful Mega Man Killer Enker. Mega Man can run, jump, slide, and fire his Mega Buster, then gain special weapons from defeated bosses. Contemporary and later reception has generally recognized it as an ambitious handheld adaptation, while noting its short length and difficult controls.
