How it plays
Mega Man V is viewed from the side. Each stage is a linear platforming course filled with enemies, pits, moving platforms, and environmental hazards. Mega Man can run, jump, fire his arm cannon, slide, and use acquired special weapons.
The main objective is to clear the Stardroid stages and defeat their bosses. A defeated boss grants a new weapon, creating a weapon-selection layer for later stages. The adventure also includes Wily-related battles and a final sequence after the main boss route.
Plan your run
Learn which special weapons exploit each boss's weakness, then revisit difficult stages with a more suitable loadout.
Conserve weapon energy, inspect platforms before jumping, and use the regular Mega Buster when a special weapon offers no clear advantage. Extra tanks and recovery items are especially valuable before the final battles.

Before you begin
Use the pause or weapon screen to choose the weapon that best matches the current boss.
Do not rush blind jumps; the Game Boy screen can hide hazards and landing platforms.
Save weapon energy for boss encounters and difficult sections rather than ordinary enemies.
Editorial context
A highly original and technically impressive Game Boy entry with a strong space-themed identity.
The compact screen and limited presentation can make some hazards harder to read.
Mega Man V is a side-scrolling action platformer developed and published by Capcom for the Game Boy. It follows Mega Man as he defends Earth from the Stardroids, alien robots who attack after the familiar Robot Masters are defeated. Unlike several earlier portable entries, the game uses an original setting, enemies, weapons, and bosses instead of adapting stages from the NES series. Players explore compact stages, defeat robot bosses, collect their weapons, and confront Dr. Wily's forces. Its responsive controls, distinctive science-fiction theme, and ambitious boss roster made it one of the strongest and most original Mega Man games on Game Boy, although the small screen and limited hardware remain noticeable.
