How it plays
Mega Turrican uses a side-view perspective and presents a sequence of large, scrolling stages. Bren must move through hazards, defeat enemies, collect power-ups, and reach the end of each area before confronting major bosses.
The player can run, jump, fire in multiple directions, use a grappling beam, and transform into a rolling gyroscope. Weapon upgrades improve firepower, while hidden routes and energy pickups reward careful exploration. Limited lives and health make route knowledge and conservation of resources important.
Plan your run
Explore side paths before advancing, since weapon upgrades, energy, and extra lives are often placed away from the main route.
Use the grappling beam to control positioning and reach platforms safely. Learn boss attack patterns, keep a strong weapon for difficult encounters, and avoid rushing into unfamiliar hazards.

Mega Turrican is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Factor 5 for the Sega Genesis and released in 1994. It is the Genesis version of Turrican 3: Payment Day, adapted with hardware-specific graphics, sound, and level design. Players control the armored warrior Bren McGuire as he fights through hostile industrial and alien environments using firearms, jumps, a grappling beam, and the series’ morphing ability. The game combines exploration with fast run-and-gun combat and demanding platforming. It was generally regarded as a strong technical showcase for the Genesis, with detailed animation and energetic presentation, although its difficulty and occasional uneven pacing could be demanding for newcomers.
