How it plays

How does Missile Command play?

Missile Command uses a fixed overhead view of six cities, three missile bases, and the sky above them. Incoming weapons descend toward the cities, while the player moves a crosshair and detonates interceptors near targets. Explosions can destroy several threats when carefully positioned.

Each base has limited ammunition and must be used until its missiles are exhausted. Waves become faster and more numerous, and surviving cities and unused missiles can earn bonus points between attacks. The game ends when all cities are destroyed and the bases are depleted.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Missile Command?

Use one explosion to catch groups of missiles rather than firing directly at every individual target. Fire early at high or clustered threats, but avoid wasting ammunition on missiles that are already far from your cities.

Watch the missile counters and favor the base with the most useful firing position. Protecting cities is usually more important than preserving a single base, because empty bases can no longer contribute to defense.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Detonate interceptors near the tops of missile groups to create larger chain reactions.

  2. 2

Prioritize warheads aimed directly at cities and bases.

  3. 3

Keep some ammunition available for the final attacks of each wave.
