Ryu
The warrior protagonist who battles through mystical realms to rescue the princess.
How it plays
The game uses a side-view perspective and advances through linear stages filled with enemies, hazards, and boss encounters. The objective is to defeat each group of opponents and reach the end of the current area.
Players move through the stages, attack nearby enemies, avoid incoming strikes, and continue fighting until the stage boss is defeated. Progression is stage-based, with new areas and stronger encounters providing the main sense of advancement.
Plan your run
Stay mobile when several enemies surround the player, and avoid rushing into groups from both sides. Use the available attack range carefully, since taking repeated close-range hits can quickly drain health.
Learn enemy attack patterns before committing to extended attacks. Against bosses, prioritize survival and punish openings rather than standing directly in front of them.

Mystical Fighter is a side-scrolling beat 'em up developed by Seika Corporation and published by Taito for the Sega Genesis in 1991. It presents a supernatural martial-arts adventure in which a mystic warrior battles hostile creatures and occult enemies across dangerous stages. The game focuses on direct close-range combat, enemy waves, and steady movement from left to right rather than exploration or complex character development. Its colorful fantasy presentation and unusual setting give it a distinct identity among Genesis action games. Reception has generally been niche and mixed, with players often noting its atmosphere and straightforward arcade-style action while criticizing its difficulty and limited depth.
