How it plays
The player views each arena from above and guides Bomberman through a grid of corridors. Bombs destroy adjacent soft blocks and enemies, but their blast also harms the player, so safe positioning and timing are essential.
Single-player stages require the player to clear threats and locate the exit, often after destroying enough blocks or defeating the enemies in the area. Power-ups improve bomb range, bomb capacity, movement, or other abilities. Multiplayer battle arenas turn the same blast mechanics against other players.
Plan your run
Start by clearing nearby soft blocks while keeping at least one escape route open. Do not place a bomb in a corridor unless you can reach a safe tile before the fuse expires.
Use blast-extending and bomb-capacity power-ups carefully: greater range increases both offensive reach and the risk of trapping yourself. In battles, block opponents' routes and use chain reactions, but avoid standing beside destructible walls when a delayed blast can catch you.

Neo Bomberman is a 1997 arcade action game developed by Hudson Soft and published by SNK for Neo Geo arcade hardware. It uses the Bomberman formula of navigating maze-like arenas, placing bombs, breaking soft blocks, collecting power-ups, and defeating enemies before escaping each area. The game combines single-player stage progression with competitive multiplayer battles. Its bright presentation and straightforward controls made it accessible in arcades, while its relatively compact campaign and familiar mechanics appealed mainly to established Bomberman fans. It is notable as one of the series' arcade-focused releases rather than a numbered home-console sequel.
