How it plays
Fights take place on a single 2D plane with two combatants facing each other. The objective is to deplete the opponent's life bar before the round timer expires, usually by winning a best-of-three-round match.
Players move, jump, guard, attack with punches or kicks, draw or use weapons, and perform special ninpō techniques. The arcade mode advances through a sequence of opponents, while versus play allows two players to fight directly. Each character has different normal attacks, weapon properties, special moves, and recovery options.
Plan your run
Learn the spacing of each character's weapon attacks before relying on special moves. Long-reaching attacks can control the center of the screen, but whiffed heavy attacks leave clear openings.
Use guarding and short hops to challenge predictable pressure. Save powerful ninpō techniques for confirmed openings, and study the opponent's recovery after blocked or missed attacks. In arcade mode, patience is generally safer than repeatedly attacking the computer.

Editorial context
A stylish and fast Neo Geo fighter with a memorable weapon-based combat system.
The smaller roster and demanding arcade difficulty may be less approachable than SNK's flagship fighters.
Ninja Master's: Haō Ninpō Chō is a 1996 arcade fighting game developed by ADK and published by SNK for Neo Geo-based arcade hardware. It presents a roster of warriors and ninjas battling with fists, kicks, weapons, and supernatural ninpō techniques. Matches use a traditional side-view format, with each fighter offering distinct reach, speed, and special moves. The game is remembered for its weapon-focused combat, dramatic presentation, and fast-paced exchanges. It received less attention than SNK's larger fighting franchises, but has earned a favorable reputation among Neo Geo enthusiasts for its colorful characters, responsive controls, and unusual weapon mechanics.
