How it plays
The camera follows Cotton from behind as the scenery scrolls forward automatically. The objective is to survive each stage, destroy enemies, collect useful items, and defeat a large boss at the end of the route.
Cotton moves freely around the play area while firing at targets ahead. Power-ups improve her offensive capability, and magic attacks provide stronger attacks with limited availability. Stages emphasize memorizing enemy formations, avoiding obstacles, and managing position rather than exploring branching maps.
Plan your run
Stay near the center of the screen when possible so that incoming targets and obstacles remain visible. Move in short, deliberate adjustments instead of constantly hugging an edge.
Collect power-ups safely, learn the timing of each boss pattern, and reserve magic for dense enemy formations or moments when survival is more important than maximizing score. Replaying stages to memorize hazards is especially useful.
Meet the cast
A young witch and the game's playable heroine, who flies through dangerous stages while searching for magical sweets.
Cotton's fairy companion, who accompanies her during the adventure.
Before you begin
Watch the road and foreground as well as airborne enemies; hazards can approach from different depths.
Do not spend every magic attack immediately. Save it for crowded sections or difficult boss patterns.
Use repeated runs to learn fixed enemy formations and obstacle timing.
Panorama Cotton is a 1994 fantasy rail shooter developed and published by Success for Sega's Mega Drive, marketed internationally as the Genesis. It follows the witch Cotton as she flies through colorful 3D-style landscapes in pursuit of magical sweets. The game combines a forward-scrolling viewpoint with the rapid shooting, enemy patterns, power-ups, and magic attacks associated with arcade shoot 'em ups. Its unusual perspective and bright presentation made it one of the more distinctive Mega Drive shooters, although its Japanese-only release and demanding action limited its audience at the time. It is now regarded as a notable and technically ambitious entry in the Cotton series.
