How it plays

How does Prince of Persia play?

The game uses a side-view perspective across a connected series of dungeon rooms. The prince must run, climb, jump, hang from ledges, avoid traps, and find routes toward the next area while searching for keys and navigating gates.

Combat begins when the prince obtains a sword. Fights depend on positioning, blocks, attacks, and timing. The adventure is constrained by a countdown, and some stages require careful route planning to avoid wasting time. Progress is made by reaching later rooms and surviving increasingly complex traps and opponents.

Plan your run

What is the best way to play Prince of Persia?

Learn each room before committing to a sprint. Walk near unfamiliar edges, inspect pressure plates, and use short jumps when a long leap could send the prince into a trap.

Conserve the timer by memorizing safe routes and collecting keys efficiently. During sword fights, stay close enough to control spacing, block when an enemy advances, and attack only after creating a clear opening. Extra life potions can be useful, but some potions have harmful effects, so approach unfamiliar containers carefully.

Before you begin

What should you know before playing?

  1. 1

Treat every new room as a timing puzzle rather than a race.

Use small movements near spikes, guillotines, and ledges.

  3. 3

Memorize successful routes because the countdown leaves little room for experimentation.
