How it plays
How does Pulstar play?
The game uses a side-view perspective and presents a continuous sequence of horizontally scrolling stages. The objective is to survive enemy formations, obstacles, and boss encounters while reaching the end of each level.
The ship can move in eight directions, fire its standard weapon, charge a stronger shot, and use a pod-like defense system to block or absorb attacks. Players progress by learning enemy patterns, managing screen position, and preserving defensive resources. The arcade format centers on a single-player score attack with limited lives and continues.
Plan your run
What is the best way to play Pulstar?
Stay near the center of the screen when enemy patterns are unfamiliar, leaving room to move in either direction. Use the pod defensively rather than treating it only as an offensive tool.
Charge shots are most valuable against durable enemies and bosses. Learn which objects can be destroyed and which must be avoided, because crowded stages often punish indiscriminate movement. Practice each checkpoint until its opening pattern becomes reliable.
Before you begin
What should you know before playing?
- 1
Keep a safe escape route open before collecting or positioning the pod.
- 2
Use repeated short movements instead of sweeping across the entire screen near dense formations.
- 3
Memorize boss attack cycles and save charged shots for exposed weak points.
