How it plays
The action is viewed from above as the aircraft moves through vertically scrolling stages. The objective is to destroy ground and airborne targets, survive enemy formations, defeat large bosses, and reach the end of the selected course.
Players fire the main weapon, collect power-ups to change or strengthen weapons, and use bombs to clear threats or survive dangerous moments. Raiden DX includes a conventional multi-stage course and a shorter alternate course. Scoring rewards destruction, item collection, survival, and efficient play, while deaths reduce the player's current power state.
Plan your run
Learn the timing and entry points of recurring enemy waves before attempting high scores. Keep the aircraft moving in small, deliberate adjustments rather than making wide sweeps through crowded areas.
Save bombs for dense bullet patterns, sudden close-range threats, and bosses. Collect weapon items when the route is safe, but avoid risky detours for power-ups. For scoring, practice the shorter course separately and memorize boss patterns so bombs can be reserved for survival or damage opportunities.

Before you begin
Use small movements to maintain room around the aircraft.
Bombs provide both emergency protection and damage; do not wait until the last instant.
Practice each route independently to learn enemy entrances and boss timing.
Raiden DX is a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up developed and published by Seibu Kaihatsu for arcade systems in 1994. The player pilots a combat aircraft against an invading mechanical force, combining rapid shooting with carefully timed bombs and power-up collection. Its play style emphasizes memorizing enemy patterns, managing weapon strength, and choosing routes through dense stages. The game was well received among arcade shooters for its polished presentation, demanding difficulty, scoring depth, and responsive controls. It is especially noted for offering both a standard course and a shorter, more concentrated route.
